frisco, texas – With Texas and Oklahoma likely heading to the SEC in 2024, the question everyone should ask is simple.
who’s next?
The most logical answer is to literally face the league head-on.
TCU.
Horned Frogs gives the SEC a firm foothold in the Dallas market and permanently shuts down all four major Texas TV markets.
Now is the perfect time to attack. Horned Frogs is football’s media darling and in places like Alabama he’s tired of the old waiting until it’s your turn system that robs him of NIL money and playing time landing pads on elite SEC transfers has become
They are currently a top 25 team in basketball and also finished as a top 25 baseball team last spring.
It’s best to catch them while everything is tumbling down in the Fort. The SEC announcement could make the market value even higher. Accepting such an invitation would make them the best dollar frogs in TV negotiations.
It also provides the SEC team with quality travel destinations. SEC is known for many things, but going to opponents’ venues is not one of them.
Flying to DFW and taking the short 27-mile drive to the TCU campus is a dream for the SEC team.
It’s not only easy to go, but it’s also the perfect trip for fans and recruits. The stadium is beautiful and located in a large part of Fort Worth.
If you have a spouse who likes to travel but isn’t interested in football, that spouse and the kids who want to go with them but may not go to the game can spend a day at the Fort Worth Zoo. [literally the only zoo experience I have ever enjoyed] Or enjoy a day trip to Arlington at Six Flags.
Afterwards, you can have dinner at Sundance Square and catch a movie at the Coyote Drive-In. You can see the skyline of Fort Worth just behind the movie just across the tiny Trinity River.
Of course, the SEC always likes to order new members in pairs, so we could throw Oklahoma in as well. It’s not as easily accessible as TCU, but it’s a fan-based tailor made for the SEC that’s as frustrating as cowbells ringing in Starkville or mustard being tossed in Knoxville. is fun.
Just ask any Arkansas fan how much fun it is to have an intense shootout with the Cowboys.
OK State brings only a modest increase in viewership, but it brings quality to all three major sports, plus another very valuable commodity to share with TCU.
Cheap travel for non-revenue sports.
Save time figuring out the distance from Gainesville, Florida to Stillwater. 1,176 miles, no problem. Florida makes even fewer moves to Stillwater than to Fayetteville, which has only happened to him twice in almost 20 years in football.
The Razorbacks will head to the Swamp for the second time in a row next season, and with everything shuffled to accommodate Texas and Oklahoma, they may not get a return game if they arrive a year early.
As for Oklahoma and TCU, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and even Ole Miss are all about 500 miles or less to work. Add LSU and Mississippi State, and he’s looking at eight teams that are within a maximum of about 650 miles of each other.
This is ultimately a good thing as it makes the whole meeting better.
With Oklahoma and Texas gone, some might think it’s a little unkind to steal the Big 12’s newly crowned program, but the conference already has “Group of Five” status. is on the rise.
Who thinks the Big Ten aren’t going to annex Kansas and Kansas anytime soon to bridge the gap between the rest of the conference and Los Angeles?
Penn State University does not fly to Los Angeles on a regular basis. This is a problem Nebraska, Illinois, and Iowa have to deal with. Adding some quality in terms of basketball by skating on a short ride to Kansas is a nice way to smooth things over.
It’s impossible to imagine those two plus Oregon and either Utah or Stamford not being absorbed soon.
The two Super Conferences will battle it out for several other teams, but this is the way forward.
Breadcrumbs are pretty straightforward.
We are heading towards the SEC and the Big Ten following the mold of AFC and NFC. The two will host their own playoffs and the resulting champions will face each other in college football Super Bowl games.
A 12-team playoff is another step in getting people used to an idea that will ultimately lead to the greatest financial return in all college sports.
If that happens, there’s a good chance that the ball will start rolling this weekend.
After all, you never know who SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey will “run against” in the TCU-Georgia national championship game.
