Tennessee Basketball will host ESPN’s “College GameDay” when Texas comes to Thompson Bowling Arena on January 28, ESPN announced Saturday.
This is the fourth time the show will air from Knoxville during the school year. “College GameDay” saw him pick UT for the September 24th football game against Florida and for the October 15th football game against Alabama.

The pre-UT vs. Texas show airs on ESPN at 11:00 noon ET, with live hits early in the show. Hosted by He’s Rece Davis, Jay Bilas, LaPhonso Ellis, and Seth Greenberg, it will air live on ESPN at 11:00 p.m. ET. A live hit will also take place the morning before the show.
Tennessee will host Texas as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge for the second year in a row on January 28 (6pm ET, ESPN). Vols coach Rick Barnes was coached in Texas from 1998 until 2015. Tennessee returned to Austin for the first time since Barnes was hired by his Vols in January 2022, when he lost 52-51 in Austin.
Tennessee previously hosted “College GameDay” shows on January 31, 2009 (79-63 win over Florida) and January 15, 2011 (67-64 win over Vanderbilt). The 2011 show featured a Vols/Lady Vols doubleheader, with Vanderbilt winning both games. The Vols are 3-3 in a basketball game with a “College GameDay” onsite. They played in his four road games held twice in Memphis, Kansas and Kentucky.
Tennessee is the only school to host a “College Game Day” for soccer, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball.
Gates open at 9:30 am ET for fans who want to be in the live audience. No ticket is required to attend the event. Fans can start lining up to join the live audience from 7am ET. UT students will be asked to line up at the student gate, while all other fans will enter through Gate D. Free parking is available in the G10 garage. A digital parking permit is required for re-entry.
