Tech Men’s Soccer Announces Additions To Program

Blacksburg – Virginia Tech’s men’s soccer announced three new signings as part of its 2023 class and announced three intermediate additions to the program on Monday.

After high school, Ethan Chapolovsky, Nick Laffey, and Noe Wimana joined the Hokies. Marcos Esco, Ethan Hackenberg When Marco Westerholm I joined the program prior to spring off-season training.

Ethan Chaporowski

Belchertown, Massachusetts

Chaporowski joins Tech with a state champion pedigree after playing at Belchertown High School. In 2019, he was named team his MVP and Player of the Year in the freshman campaign and won a state title with his school. Outside of school, Chapolovski has played for his MLS next side, the Boston Bolt.

Nick Laffey

Laffey joins Tech as a brilliant goalscorer from the DC area. In a season that saw his Johns College High School finish runner-up in the state, he was named his 2021 DC Gatorade Player of the Year, First Team his All-Met, and 2021 WCAC Player of the Year. Laffey will play for MLS’s Next Side Baltimore Armor.

Noe Wimana

Wimana continues the trend of Philadelphia Union youth talent heading to Blacksburg after graduating from YSC Academy. The Austin, Texas native was part of the Philadelphia Union who won his MLS Next He Cup in 2022 with his 3-2 win over Columbus Crew. In addition to his experience with his youth system, Uwimana has trained with his first team in Philadelphia.

Marcos Esco

Marcos Esco Joined Tech after competing for CS Herediano in the Costa Rican First Division. A historic club, Herediano holds 29 league titles, the third-most in league history. Escoe worked his way through his team’s youth system before making his first team debut last fall.

Ethan Hackenberg

Hackenberg joined Tech after stints at Coastal Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast, and CCBC Essex. The Pennsylvania native had a great season when he recently played for CCBC his Essex United football coaches in his All-American campaign he scored 16 goals and tallied 12 assists. In his two seasons with the Coastal, Hackenberg scored his two goals.

Marco Westerholm

Vesterholm joined the Hokies after four seasons with Elon, who started 35 games for Phoenix, including a game in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Danish midfielder Elon scored one goal and provided three assists. For 2021, Vesterholm received his team leadership award. Before he entered the college football scene, he captained his four youth teams at Landers FC.
