This was not the start the UNC basketball program had hoped for the 2022-23 season. After losing to Pitt on Friday, the Tar Heels are now 9-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and 1-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The loss will see UNC drop out of the AP’s top 25 on Monday afternoon. However, the NET ranking also dropped.

As of Sunday night, Tar Heels is currently outside the top 30, ranking 32nd in the NET rankings. After the game on Saturday, December 31st, he dropped three places from 29th.
A downward trend is not what UNC fans want.
UNC still has one Quad 1 victory against Ohio State in a neutral court. They couldn’t get another when they faced Pitt on the road Friday afternoon. The Tar Heels have been plagued last year as well, with him going 1-5 in Quad 1 matches this season.
UNC hasn’t completely free-falled in the NET rankings, but it hasn’t gone in the right direction. With five losses, UNC needs to start racking up wins here and is on the schedule for the Atlantic Coast Conference.
