men’s basketball

They rebounded from a 78-75 loss at Virginia Tech on Monday night before doubling Georgia Tech 86-43 in Atlanta on Saturday. Seven-foot-tall freshman Kai Filippowski once again led the Blue Devils (15-6, 6-4 in ACC), scoring his career-high 29 points in the team’s narrows before finishing two matches. averaging 23.5 points and 8.5 rebounds. The loss was compounded by a loss at Blacksburg, Virginia, and an additional loss to injury to freshman forward Darik Whitehead. women’s basketball

The Blue Devils started the week with a bang, but ended it with a whimper. No. 12 Virginia Tech was kicked out of Cameron Indoor Stadium on Thursday night after a crushing loss to the No. 16 Blue Devils (18-3, 8-2). But three days and 650 miles were enough to upset the tide for the Blue Devils as Duke suffered his 70-57 crushing loss at Florida State on Sunday afternoon. Head coach Carla Lawson is looking to move her team back to the top of her ACC rankings at home to Pittsburgh on Thursday. – Sophie Levenson

Athletics

Head coach Sean Willborn feels pretty good about Duke’s prospects, especially after this weekend. Did. Duke had another difficult week, dropping both duals on the road against talented ranked opponents. On Tuesday, the Blues defeated his Devils (3-8, 0-2) to his 19th-ranked Appalachian State, 42-3, and on Friday, North Carolina State, where he lost 46-3. Senior heavyweight Jonah Niisenbaum was the only Duke Grappler to win an individual event this week, going 2-0. The captain beat Appalachia’s Triston Norris 3-2 with him and North Carolina’s Tyree Horton 5-4. The Blue Devils hope to improve in two home duals with ACC rivals Virginia Tech and Campbell at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Friday and Sunday, respectively. -Luke Jovanovich

The Blue Devils returned to action Sunday as they traveled to Cambridge, Massachusetts, for the Eric Solley Invitational. With an overall record of 10-2, Head coach Alex Beguinet completed his 800th win of his career. The 10th women’s team remained unbeaten at 6–0, led by her stunning 14–0 performance from Junior Foil her specialist Cristina Ferrari. Meanwhile, the seventh-place men’s team struggled a bit on the day as he lost 4-2 to Boston College and MIT. Duke was again a senior fin with a 12-4 record, aided by his Hosfeld talent and strong play from sophomore Allen Malakoff. The Blue Devils have two weeks to prepare for the regular season finale on February 11th. – Mackenzie Sheehy

women’s tennis

Punching the ticket: No. 5 Duke beat Wisconsin 4-1 to qualify for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Sunday at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Durham. Heading into the championship game, the Blue Devils (5-0) beat the No. 4 seed VCU 4-0 on Saturday. Duke has high hopes for the upcoming season as he prepares to face Harvard at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday. -Brent Yu

Duke traveled to Winston-Salem, N.C., for the ITA Kickoff Weekend, where the Blue Raiders got off to a strong start with doubles points before losing 4-2 to Middle Tennessee on Friday. It was the first time (4-2) in series history that Middle Tennessee had won over Duke. The No. 19 Blue Devils earned their first win against a top-25 team of the season with a 4-0 win over No. 23 Auburn on Saturday in a consolation match. They improved their doubles performance on Saturday, led by senior Garrett Johns and freshman Pedro Rodenas. Duke then returns home on Friday to face Illinois at 6 p.m. -Suresh Kannoth
