Sports community sends message of support to Dumar Hamlin after on-field cardiac arrest

After the Buffalo Bills’ safety collapsed on the field, messages of support for Dumar Hamlin flooded in from sports around the world.

Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and fell on his back shortly after tackling Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins during an NFL game on Monday. I am in critical condition at the hospital.

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson tweeted shortly after the incident, writing: I’m praying for you @HamlinIsland. I wish you good health and safety. ”

The Bills’ game against the Bengals was suspended at 5:58 in the first quarter and then officially postponed. The NFL said details regarding next steps will be announced “at the appropriate time”, adding that Hamlin’s health is a top priority.

Higgins, the Bengals wide receiver involved in the clash with Hamlin, said: I hope you get over your mate.

American tennis player Jessica Pegula, daughter of Bills owner Terry Pegula, called the incident “awful” after the United Cup tennis match.

She told reporters that she was “really speechless”, according to Reuters. “I’m glad they stopped the game. It’s a reminder that there are many things more important than sports and games. It was pretty scary.”
