SKYHAWK MEN’S BASKETBALL DESTROYS OVC Rival Southeast Missouri TOMORROW FOR NINE WINS IN A ROW

Martin, Tennessee – The University of Tennessee-Martin men’s basketball team has just delivered its best defensive performance of the season and is looking to continue its winning streak at home against Ohio Valley Conference nemesis Southeast Missouri. Tip-off on Thursday, January 5 is set for 8:00 PM (after the women’s basketball game finishes as the back end of the doubleheader).

The Skyhawks (9-6, OVC 1-1) turned up the heat last Saturday, holding Morehead State to one field goal in a 64-57 win in the final nine minutes. UT Martin held the Eagles’ shooting percentage to 30.8% during the visit (the lowest by an OVC opponent since Eastern Illinois shot 28.1% on Jan. 28, 2021) and will be in 2022-23. They conceded the fewest points against their Division I opponents.

Saturday’s win was also the eighth straight win to start the season inside the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center, setting a record for the program’s NCAA Division I era (since 1992). The Skyhawks have won his fourth consecutive home outs against Southeastern Missouri and his seven of his last eight home decisions dating back to 2015 (2017-19). It was the only setback in overtime for the 18th season).
