Sergio Mora’s three boxing predictions for 2023

He says it will be a big battle this year.

We asked DAZN’s Sergio Mora what his three predictions are for boxing in 2023, and here’s his answer:

1. The undisputed world heavyweight champion will be crowned in 2023

Oleksandr Usyk-Tyson Fury — Probably not the most aesthetically pleasing fight, but it will at least get an undisputed champion. Being such a big giant, I don’t think that fight will be a typical heavyweight fight. But at least we will have an undisputed champion. All I want to see is a fight for every belt – everything on the line. He has one boxing heavyweight champion.

2. Fans finally get Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terrence Crawford

It has dragged on for a long time. Both are in their thirties. There are so many politics. Crawford-Spence — Everyone wants to see this fight. It’s still a megafight, but maybe not as much as last year, two years ago, three years ago. He will end up with the same result, one guy showing up, unlike a few years ago. Spence or Crawford, I don’t know who. Spence has been through a lot physically. Crawford has been hitting more in the last few games, and while he’s not as laser-sharp as he usually is, he still has pound-for-pound talent.

3. Canelo Alvarez rematches Dmitri Bivol

It’s a fight that Canelo is too stubborn to put this fight on the back burner. He’ll be back, testing his operated hand, and doing a tune-up to remove some of the cobwebs. He always said he wanted to fight in England. And he’ll stubbornly prepare for a Canelo vs. Vivol rematch, even if it’s probably not the best fight for him.
