If the Alabama Crimson Tide softball team needs more motivation for the upcoming 2023 season, it was delivered Thursday.
The league’s annual poll of head coaches for the preseason has been announced, with the Crimson Tide ranked fourth.
Alabama finished second to Arkansas in the SEC regular season last season and upset in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament. His sixth-seeded Crimson Tide (44-13) in the NCAA Tournament did not qualify for the Super He Regionals for the first time in program history, as Stanford ended the season early.
But the fourth?
In the DI preseason Top 25, the only preseason ranking so far, Patrick Murphy’s team is ranked sixth in the nation, just behind fifth-placed Florida.
We’ll have to wait and see what the Crimson Tide thinks about Snub. The SEC team plans to start his 2023 softball season on February 9, with conference play scheduled to begin on his Friday, March 10.
Unique to the SEC Coaches poll, the Gators led the preseason poll with 5 first place votes and 134 points.

Tennessee finished second with 3 first place votes and 126 points.
Defending SEC champion Arkansas finished third with 5 first place votes and 122 points.
Alabama finished fourth with 118 points, while LSU rounded out the top five with 87 points.
The points are arranged in descending order. Coaches could not vote for their own team.
The 2023 SEC Softball Tournament will be held May 9-13 at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Ark.
