Sam Brown had another big night, as the St. Francis High School boys’ basketball team beat King City 68-61 in the Pacific Coast Athletic League Cypress Division game Thursday night.
Brown, who joined from Soquel, made seven 3-point shots and scored 29 points. The Sharks have been 3-0 on him since he qualified, and in that span he padded 22 of his 3-pointers.
King City led 18-15 after the first quarter, but the Sharks rallied in the second, leading 38-31 going into the first half. St He Francis was 51-47 as he entered the fourth quarter up four points.
Joseph Rose scored 20 points with the Sharks, including four 3-pointers. Junior Ibarra scored 10 points and Nash Horton added his 6 points. Christian Magana recorded his 11 rebounds, five of which he was offensive.
The Sharks (7-5, 2-0) will host North Salinas (3-8, 1-1) on Wednesday at 7pm.
women’s basketball
St Francis 50, King City 43: Emily Raich, Alyssa Gomez and Isabella Fury each scored 13 points in the Sharks’ PCAL Cypress Division on Thursday. Fury he hit three of his 3-pointers.
Nevaeh Litel contributed 5 points, 4 steals and 3 rebounds.
Sharks (5-9, 1-1) will host Soledad on January 20th at 7pm.
Women’s soccer
Pajaro Valley 3, Pacific College 1: Ashley Cardenas scored twice in the Grizzlies’ PCAL Mission Division victory at Harbor High on Thursday.
Valeria Acosta scored a goal and an assist. Leslie Carrisosa and Marixa Rodriguez also recorded assists.
The Grizzlies (5-3-2, 1-0-1) will host Rancho San Juan on Tuesday at 3pm.
Soquel 3, Scotts Valley 1: Midfielder Lily Montesinos had two goals and one assist in Wednesday’s SCCAL make-up game.
Montesinos converted a penalty kick in the 5th minute and scored in the 45th minute with a pass from Munchie Price 30 yards out, setting up a goal for his sister Dahlia in the 70th minute.
