TyTy Washington, from the University of Kentucky, definitely wanted to play for the Houston Rockets in his rookie season. But his team is mostly healthy, and the 29th pick in the 2022 first-round draft, he’s making the most of his league stint in NBA G.

In Friday’s game (box score) against the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Vipers, Washington had 53 points and 10 rebounds on 15-of-33 shooting (45.5%) and 6-of-17 shooting. 3-pointers (35.3%), his 11-of-12 from the free-throw line (91.7%).

It’s not an isolated game for the 6-foot-3 guard who entered Friday’s action averaging 23.5 points (47.4% FG, 50.0% on 3-pointers) and 9.0 assists in the G League.

Washington has yet to find a consistent role for the Rockets with Kevin Porter Jr. as the starting point guard. However, with Porter currently out due to a contused left foot, Washington’s performance could earn an NBA recall in the near future.
