Battle Sports hosted the first big tournament of the Seven on Seven season. It took place in South Florida and the amount of talent was incredible.
We’ve had some interesting recruiting notes to share about top prospects and the Miami Hurricanes, so let’s dive right in.
Perhaps the most important note came from the overarching theme of the visit, as a number of teams playing in Battle Sports tournaments headed to Coral Gables to visit The U on Saturday night.
Among the many teams are South Florida Express (Fort Lauderdale-Miami), Burch Sports (Jacksonville), Slimey Boyz (Tampa area), Sound Mind Sound Body (Detroit area), Texas Threat (Dallas area). It was
As for the outlook itself, there were more than anyone could list. Consider the overview below. The forecasts below are in no particular order.
Jeremiah Smith, Wide Receiver, South Florida Express/Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Chaminade-Madonna – 2024
Just because he’s dedicated to Ohio State, that hasn’t changed him from being one of America’s most coveted prospects. I am looking for this young man. There is no reason not to use Canes or any other program.
He was arguably the most impressive player on day one of Battle Miami. His one-handed catch in the end his zone was phenomenal, as the following clip shows.
An argument can be made from the entire class of 2024 that Smith is the best bet for joining the National Football League. It’s not just because of his physical prowess. But he certainly has many of them.
Incredible in all categories of length, agility, turning, speed and hand-eye coordination. Equally important, he once again displayed an extraordinary maturity for someone not yet eighteen. Smith has long been deserving of being considered an elite contender, and yesterday proved that even more.
Zakuan PattersonATH, Defcon 7v7 / Hollywood (Florida) Chaminade-Madonna – 2024
Miami’s top recruit target, Patterson (see interview for details), played safety and cornerback at Defcon 7v7. He has been recruited by numerous programs around the country and could end up holding multiple positions at the university level.
He looked much more muscular than he did last spring.
Bryce UnderwoodQuarterback, SMSB / Belleville (Mich.) High School – 2025
An acclaimed young signal-maker, Underwood’s muscular 6-foot-4-inch and 207-pound frame stood out among many elite athletes. He ranks 3rd overall in the 247 Sports Overall Rankings.
Already with Hurricane’s offer, Underwood visited Miami on Friday and returned again on Saturday night. should be regarded as a program that
Watching him move around, change the angle of his arm, pick up speed and throw or take something out of his throws, it was easy to see why Underwood was ranked so highly He still has to learn the nuances of the quarterback position, but he’s arguably one of the most promising players in the country, and that’s regardless of class.
Jordan Johnson-RubelSafety, Texas Threat/Bradenton, FL IMG Academy – 2024
The IMG-transferred Fort Worth, Texas prospect was already in Miami on Friday night. He is one of the most recruited players in his star state on loan, and Miami is one of them.
Johnson visited the Hurricanes on Friday night. Miami is definitely involved and has a legitimate chance of getting Johnson LeBell. Teams competing for his services include Texas, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Ole His Misses, and many other programs. A great kid and totally put together physically. A bright future awaits him.
Jaime FrenchWide Receiver, Burch Sports / Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin – 2025
The Frenchman received an offer from Miami’s coaching staff and is one of the Sunshine State’s most coveted players. He was due to make an unofficial visit to Miami with his teammates on Saturday night. Expect the cane to keep pushing for him.
Watching the Frenchman play, he’s another prospect who has really put on quite a bit of weight. He still provided the smooth motion of a real big game receiver as well.
Additionally, the Frenchman took a leadership role in his birch sports team. He was a vocal player who made his teammates practice, and it continued while he was playing games. He’s another great young man around.
These are just a few of the opening day recruiting and overall thoughts for the Battle Tournament. all hurricanes for the next few days.
