Preparatory Basketball: Corona Centenary Wins on Trip to Massachusetts

On Saturday, Corona Centennial added to the resume of basketball’s top opponents. The Huskies (17-3) took part in a cross-country trip to Massachusetts and played in Springfield College’s Hoop Hall at his Classic in New Jersey where he won 66-62 at Camden.

Duke bound Jared McCain made six 3-pointers to score 27 points at the Centennial. Aaron McBride scored 11 and Devin Williams scored 10.

Kentucky commit DJ Wagner led Camden with 27 points.

Foothill 62, Chaparral 53: Coming up with eight teams for the Southern Section Open Division Basketball Playoffs will be a guessing game for the next few weeks. Foothills are 20-1 with a win over Rancho Christian. Travis Pareo scored 16 and Carlo Billings scored 15.

Dominguez 71, Perspective 44: Isaac Sowell had 33 points, 21 rebounds and six blocks for Dominguez.

Rolling Hills Prep 57, Inglewood 33: JV Brown scored 19 points at Rolling Hills Prep.

Westchester 54, Peninsula 46: Michael Hill scored 17 points for the Comets.

Providence 76, Taft 73: Providence triumphed at Village Christian.

Village Christian 64, Little Rock 46: Thomas Luzak scored 15 points and shot 7 of 8 for Village Christian.

Servite 60, Palisades 50 (2OT): In double overtime, the monks win. Aaron Balistrieri scored his 12 points on his Servite.

Thousand Oaks 82, Cleveland 61: Trent McLean had 21 points and 14 rebounds for Cleveland.

Mayfair 67, Esperanza 62: Desmon Botts had 24 points and eight rebounds for Mayfair.

Walnut 74, Arcadia 56: Malik Korsam scored 23 points and became Walnut’s all-time scoring leader with 1,476 career points.

St. Monica 61, Lynnwood 60: Freshman Jason Crowe Jr. scored 41 points in Lynnwood’s loss at Fairfax.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 79, Oakwood 66: Caleb Foster scored 24 points and Mercy Miller scored 21 points at Notre Dame.

Sierra Canyon 67, Sidwell Friends (Washington DC) 55: The Trail Blazers (19-0) remained undefeated by winning the Hoophall Classic, even though Juju Watkins was limping for most of the second half with an ankle injury. Watkins had 29 points and 14 rebounds. McKenry Randolph has 22 points and 14 rebounds.

Westchester 64, Long Beach Poly 44: The undefeated Comets (19-0) have shown that they can also beat the Southern Section schools. Mariah Blake scored 23 points. Andrea Perkins led the poly with 18 points.

Windward 69, Corona Santiago 48: Sky Belker contributed 29 points and Olivia Lagao contributed 16 points for Windward.
