Pittsburgh – The Pittsburgh Penguins didn’t stand out as one of the top teams in the first 48 games of the season, but they need to pick up some momentum in their bye week.
The Penguins, who hold a record of 24 wins, 15 losses and 9 minutes, couldn’t have asked for an easier opponent to bring them to the break.
The San Jose Sharks have come to Pittsburgh for their second game and are performing like one of the worst teams in the league.
With a record of 14 wins, 25 losses and 11 years, the shark needs a walk in the park for the penguins, but it still needs to bring an A game.
Too often this season, the Penguins have already dropped plays to inferior opponents, and that won’t be the case tonight.
Penguins need as much victory as possible, and they can’t quite win against sharks.
San Jose may be on the verge of losing, but they can still put up a good fight. Eric Carlson is making a comeback this season and was a Penguin killer in the past.
In 31 games with the Penguins, Carlsson has scored 32 points (5G-27A) and will be playing alongside Timo Meyer.
Meyer has been on the trade block all season and is doing whatever he can to prove his worth to an attractive team.
In 50 games, Meyer scored 28 goals and 20 assists and scored 48 points. A penguin must be strong.
Sitting in the second and final wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference means there’s no room for error, especially considering there’s a one-week break in the proceedings.
The Penguins have at least one point in six straight games, but they need to go one step further.
