Phillies sign right-hander Jake Jewell to a minor league deal, according to his transaction tracker for MLB.com. He’ll probably get an invite to major league spring training.
Jewel, who turns 30 in May, has 31 MLB games in the 2018, 2019 and 2021 seasons with the Angels and Cubs. He posted an unsightly 7.75 earned run average during that time, and he allowed 13 home runs in just 38 1/3 innings, certainly playing a role in that inflated number.
