Two-time Olympic bronze medalist Paddy Barnes delivered an impressive coaching workshop when he visited the Letterkenny Boxing Club on Sunday morning.
Organized by the Donegal Sports Partnership, the event was attended by boxing clubs from the Northwest.
Burns, a two-time Olympic bronze medalist and high performance coach and club development officer at the Irish Amateur Boxing Association in Ulster, said he was impressed by the pace of Donegal’s young fighters.
The two Olympic medalists were in Letterkenny on Sunday morning to offer a coaching workshop.
“It was really fun. Whether elite or grassroots, the principles of boxing don’t change. All in all, I was impressed.
“And listen to boxing, training, seeking improvement. It’s all fun and you can focus on making it fun.”
Another purpose of the seminar, Burns later explained, was also to provide coaches with practical tips for coaching sessions for underage boxers.
“Every day is a school day. We are all learning continuously. Everyone, young people as well as coaches. Starting today, if they can bring anything back to their gym or club, it is It’s wonderful.
