If you’re a reader here, it should come as no surprise that I’ve been a huge supporter of the “Todd Helton for HoF” fan club. And sadly, my long wait (and maybe Todd’s) didn’t pay off yesterday.
Helton narrowly won just over 72% of the vote (he needed 11 more votes to get in), but Scott Rolen got the necessary 75% of the vote to force a pass on Cooperstown, He was inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame. Lauren was the only inductee in the 2023 class.
It’s also interesting to note (perhaps not too surprising) that none of the new names came close to entry in this year’s poll.
It saddens me that Helton is gone for another year, but it’s comforting to know that he’s getting a little closer each year. (2024, Buddy).
