With the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend just around the corner, the official team captains for the All-Star Game have been confirmed.
LeBron James leads the pack in the Western Conference as an 18-time All-Star, 18-time All-NBA Player, and 4-time NBA Champion. Averaging 29.9 points per game this season, James is the West’s official captain alongside Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic and Zion Williamson. This All-Star gave James his 19th most picks to his NBA All-Star Weekend, along with Kareem He Abdul He Jabbar. If James plays in Salt Lake City, he will be the first player in NBA history to appear in 19 All-Star Games. Abdul-Jabbar did not play although he was selected for the 1973 game.
In the Eastern Conference, Giannis Antetokounmpo captains the team and Kevin Durant leads the Eastern squad behind Jason Tatum, Kyrie Irving and Donovan Mitchell.Mitchell said TNT“I’m definitely blessed and humbled to be a part of this. I couldn’t be happier to be a four-time All-Star and now a starter.”
The All-Star Game returns to Salt Lake City on February 19th for the first time since 1993.
