NYU Women’s Basketball Is 10-0 With No. 1 Rankings Thanks To NJ’s Talent

New York University’s women’s basketball team is doing well, thanks in part to the contributions of talented players from the Garden State.

Division 3 Violet is 10-0 and currently #1 in the nation as polled by D3hoops.com. An impressive season is not over yet. Violet will start the University Athletic Association’s away game against Brandeis University this weekend.

Pellechia, who participated in Rutgers Prep, was named D3hoops.com’s Team of the Week this week. She leads Violet in assists per game (5.1) and steals per game (2.4). The sophomore previously secured a spot on her First Team All-UAA and won UAA Rookie of the Year and her UAA Defensive Player of the Year.

A three-year Red Bank Regional captain, Teter is the Violets’ third-leading player in steals per game (1.3). Janowski, who earned Second Team All-UAA honors before his injury, graduated from Saddle River Day School.

Violet is a team worth keeping an eye on when attending a UAA game this weekend.

Teams like Chicago are also undefeated, with Rochester and Emory losing just one game this season. Tough competition is expected.

Violet’s final game against Bowdoin College was close, with NYU beating the Polar Bears 78-75. Baber said the close match was a good final test for his NYU before conference play.
