Hyderabad: India’s largest iron ore producer and Hyderabad-based public sector giant NMDC Ltd said on Saturday it had roped in world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen as a brand ambassador.
The state-owned iron ore mining company said it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoA) with Zareen, who won gold at the 2022 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
NMDC did not disclose the size of the deal, citing confidentiality clauses, but sources said the deal has been in place for two years and could be extended.
“As a symbol of strength, a quality essential to NMDC, the company has chosen to represent someone who shares its commitment to bring honor to the country. A brand ambassador must convey fortitude and agility. No. Nikhat Zareen represents the strength, courage, agility and national pride that accompany the NMDC brand.
Noting that Zareen also represents the hopes and aspirations of the new India, Navratna PSE has decided to be part of the journey to the 2024 Olympics.
NMDC CMD Sumit Deb said Zareen’s commitment to bringing glory to the country resonates with NMDC’s values.
