Safety Nick Emanwori was pushed into the first-team defense in the first game of the season. Instead of letting his new role be a burden, he thrived under the circumstances and had one of the best freshman seasons the Gamecock defensive back has seen in years.
Emanwori is the Gamecocks’ primary tackler, named an All-American freshman by outlets such as On3, Pro Football Focus, and College Football Network, and has been recognized by multiple news publications.
However, there is something different about being recognized by ESPN, as the network’s fame it has built over the decades is the most recognizable brand in all of sports broadcasting.
On Wednesday, the world leader in sports announced a true freshman All-American team, including Emma Wolli in a safe position.
With Emanwori and corner DQ Smith roaming the middle of the field on the defensive side of the ball, the coaching staff should feel comfortable. Head He’s coach Shane He’s Beamer and defensive He’s Coordinator Clayton I have to.
