Negotiations begin for second New Zealand vs. New Zealand world boxing title fight

We can confirm that negotiations have begun for the second-ever New Zealand v New Zealand world title fight between Lani Daniels (6 – 2 – 2) and Arlie Melaisea (6 – 1 – 1).

This could be a historic event if all the right boxes are ticked. This is not only the first New Zealand-born vs. New Zealand-born world title, but also the Maori vs. Pacifica world title. In Perez vs. Lani Daniels, Perez won the fight with a unanimous decision. This will be Lani Daniels’ second attempt to win the world title.

Negotiations will take place between promoter Vasco Kovačević, trainer and manager of Alrie Meleiseas, and John Conway, trainer and manager of Lani Daniels.

This is the second attempt by these two to work together to make this fight work.

If the fight goes ahead, the proposed date could take place in May 2023, possibly at Event Finda Stadium (formerly known as North Shore Events Center) on Auckland’s North Shore. , there is a long way to go before this fight can be officially fought. Meleisea is 3rd in Boxrec and 4th in the Lineal Championship where he comes in as a two-time New Zealand National Heavyweight Champion. Negotiations can take weeks or months until everything is in place and confirmed. But we know both boxers themselves want this fight and both want to be world champions.
