ORLANDO – We’re a month away from the Orlando Magic trade deadline, and the conversation hasn’t gotten too hot yet.
According to Bleacher Report, the Magic have yet to show any willingness to trade veterans.
“One of the unintended consequences of play-in tournaments is the cooling of the trade market,” an Eastern Conference executive told Bleacher Report. “When almost everyone in the league can make the playoffs [through the play-in], there just aren’t that many sellers in December or January. The end of the month should see even more action heading into February. ”
The Magic is just four games away from play-in tournaments, and Orlando wants to work towards that goal.
“If you put that energy in a bottle and use it every game, I think you’re going to shoot well,” said Paolo Banchero, the No. 1 overall pick after the team beat the Oklahoma City Thunder last week.
The Magic could trade veteran players like Terrence Ross, Mo Bamba and Gary Harris, but Orlando may want them to get back in the playoffs.
It’s a tricky situation, and why the next month is important for Magic in terms of wins and losses, as teams have important decisions to make before the February 9th trade deadline.
