HOUSTON – The NBA announced Sunday morning penalties to the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings for Friday night’s brawl between Garrison Matthews and Malik Monk.
The two respective parties involved in the altercation were both fined. Matthews was fined $35,000 for starting and provoking an altercation, and Monk was fined $25,000 for continuing to argue.
In addition to Matthew and Monk, the NBA also fined Rockets rookie Tari Eason $30,000 for escalating the feud.
The NBA has announced the suspensions of Jaylen Green and Jayshaun Tate. The NBA has ruled that Green and Tate will be suspended one game without pay for leaving the bench area during an on-court argument.
Green and Tate will be suspended Sunday afternoon during the Rockets’ road game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
With 11 minutes and 9 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, an argument took place between Matthews and Monk. Matthews fouled Monk when both players were chasing his ball loose.
Matthews, Monk and Eason were ejected, as was Kings forward Chimezy Metu. Metu was not punished for his involvement.
With Green and Tate suspended, the Rockets will be very thin against the Clippers. Houston will also miss point guard Kevin Porter Jr., who will miss the second straight game with a contused left foot.
