The San Antonio Spurs are battling the injury bug.
Spurs have been struggling lately with numerous injuries to key players, winning just one of their four games last week. But their efforts have put him at number 27 in Sports Illustrated’s latest power rankings.
“San Antonio was surprisingly competitive last week given the injury reports,” SI wrote. “Devin Bussell (knee) was out indefinitely and missed all three games last week. Meanwhile, Keldon Johnson and Jakob Poeltl were out against Boston. With three starters lost, the Spurs , nearly upset the Celtics on Saturday, the day after they defeated the Pistons by double digits. It’s mind-boggling: a set of two games in Memphis and going home to host the Warriors and Kings this weekend.
Given the Spurs’ urgency to win this season, returning too soon from injury for these players may not be an option, but San Antonio will be out regardless of who is playing. .
The Spurs will have another challenging week on the road with the Memphis Grizzlies (Monday, Wednesday) before returning home to face the Golden State Warriors (Friday) and the Sacramento Kings (Sunday).
