The Dallas Mavericks face uncertainty, including the absence of Christian Wood (thumb).
Wood had been relatively healthy all season, missing just four games before his recent injury. After splitting the meeting and fighting, we are 2 wins and 4 losses.
Despite Wood’s absence, the Mavericks remain No. 11 in this week’s Power Rankings by Sports Illustrated.
“Dallas has been struggling very hard this month, with second best player Christian Wood exiting,” SI wrote. “The Mavericks lost to the Hawks by eight on Wednesday. Wood broke his thumb in that game. They rebounded a few nights later, beating the Heat by 15 by 34 to Luka Doncic. Dallas doubles. He scored just 98 points on Sunday.” Losing by an order of magnitude to the Clippers on Sunday. The Mavs have a generous schedule against the Wizards, Suns and Jazz.”
The Mavs are fifth in the Western Conference standings with a record of 25-23. But if the team struggles at the woodout, the Mavs could collapse and fall back from the playoff picture, with the 13th-ranked Portland Trail Blazers just 2.5 games away from the Mavs, so those 10-10 wins are likely to fall. The next game becomes more important.
Tonight, the Mavs will face the Washington Wizards, who just traded Rui Hachimura at home. The team then travels to face the Phoenix Suns (Thursday) and the Utah Jazz (Saturday).
