The Atlanta Hawks are finalizing a deal to make former NBA 3-point specialist Kyle Korver the new assistant general manager. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski:Korver will be promoted to the front office under GM Landry Fields, who is also a former NBA player. Korver was named an All-Star with the Hawks in 2015 and throughout his 17-year NBA career he played for eight different teams.

The Hawks are in the playoff conversation for the 2022-23 season, sitting in the 9th seed in the Eastern Conference at 19-22 as they approach the halfway point of the campaign. Atlanta has been trying to surround All-Star PG Trae Young with enough talent to make it to the championship.

The Hawks managed to reach the East Finals a few seasons ago, but lost to the eventual champions, the Milwaukee Bucks. The team then traded with PG Dejounte Murray to form a top-tier backcourt duo. The team attempted the transfer of PF John Collins, but it did not go well. The Hawks have Clint Capela in the center, surround Trey, and have a solid slew of winners in the likes of DeAndre Hunter, Bogdan Bogdanovic and AJ Griffin.

Korver assists Landry in finding the next move that will lead the Hawks back to the top of the East.
