Former Giants third baseman Evan Longoria has reportedly found a new home in NL West.
Jon Heyman of The New York Post reported Friday, citing sources, that Longoria has agreed to sign a one-year deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Longoria joins the third MLB team in 16 seasons. He played his 477 games in the last five years with the Giants, batting . 250/. 312/.
In 2022, Longoria batted .244/.315/.451 with 14 RBIs and 42 RBIs in 89 games against San Francisco.
In November, the Giants declined Longoria’s $13 million contract option for the 2023 season, instead paying him a $5 million buyout. That roster move opened up opportunities at third base for David Villar, Wilmer Flores and prospective Casey Schmidt.
As a result of the move, Longoria packed up and entered free agency for the first time in his career.
Josh Rojas, a 28-year-old left-handed hitter, was the Diamondbacks’ main third baseman last season. In Arizona, Longoria is hot in his corner and could spend time as a designated hitter in what could be his final MLB season.

Longoria will get the chance to reunite with his former Giants teammates when San Francisco travels to Chase Field for the May 11-14 four-game series.
