The MLB offseason is largely over and spring training is approaching. That said, rumors are still pouring in, and Saturday is no exception. Speaking of which, MLB’s rumored Saturday supply is just below.

The Miami Marlins are looking to sign veteran first baseman Yuri Gurriel to a free agency deal. Reported by Mark Feinsand.

Gurriel is coming to an end to a disappointing 2022 season for the reigning Astros. In 146 games he finished .242/.288/.360 (84 OPS+) with 8 home runs, those numbers were bolstered by a very poor measure of contact quality. A crowded Miami infield may mean Gurriel is heading for a limited role in his new team.

Story is set to play in 2023

Xander Bogaerts’ free agency departure meant the Red Sox were poised to return Trevor Story to his former position as shortstop for the 2023 season. However, Story recently underwent internal brace surgery for the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, which could cost him his entire 2023 campaign. However, the story isn’t quite ready to call it a season. The veteran infielder on Saturday told reporters he’s committed to playing at some point next season:

The 30-year-old Story enters the second year of a six-year, $140 million contract signed with Boston last winter. He finished his 2022 season with a . 238/. 303/. 434 (102 OPS+) batting average and 16 home runs in 94 games. While he’s out (which he hopes won’t be all through 2023, either), Enrique Hernández thinks he’ll be Boston’s leading shortstop position.
