Michigan basketball stepped into Mackie Arena on Sunday, where MSU hadn’t won since 2014, looking for revenge against No. 1 Purdue, but failed to beat the top team in the country. .
The Spartans had some chances to make it interesting, but Boilermakers star center Zach Eady exploded with 38 points and 12 rebounds to his growing case for Player of the Year. Since I added it, I couldn’t take advantage of it.
For Sparta, AJ Hoggard had 20 points and 6 assists. Jaden Akins also added 12 points, but it was a tough night for the rest of the lineup. Tyson Walker, who performed well in the previous game against Purdue, was stuck on his 9-point streak, not even making a successful three-point attempt, and Joey Hauser scored just one goal that night. Malik Hall, still back in the lineup, scored eight points off the bench.
MSU will take some time off this week before facing the Rutgers on the road on Saturday.
