Heavyweight “Magic” Matty Harris (3-0, 2 KOs) will be on the undercard for the annual domestic bout between Chris Eubank Jr. and Liam Smith on January 21 against Ili Surmaji (3-2 , 2 KO). AO Arena in Manchester.

In his final scheduled bout, Harris had to withdraw due to illness as he was bedridden during the week of the fight. However, he has been through two consecutive camps and unfortunately that didn’t happen.

“The camp was great. I’ve been through multiple camps for fights that didn’t happen, so I’m ready and looking forward to it,” Harris said. “From my last fight to now, I have improved in every aspect. Footwork, boxing ability, punching power.

“I am honored to be a part of such a big card and I want to make the most of the opportunity to be at an event like this to let people know that the rise of Matty Harris has something to offer. More momentum. When the night comes, people will mention my performance.”

The hard-hitting boxer is looking for three straight first-round KO wins as he battles his next opponent over six rounds. Harris beat his mate Metis twice in his opening round before ending his proceedings in the first round of the fight at Newcastle on April 2, 2022. The same devastating formula worked again at Liverpool two months after him, with Harris powell punching his Strykowski with his trademark polar axis punch.

Hampering Coventry’s hat-trick is Czech Republic’s Surmaj, who had an active 2022. Harris continues to make statements and aims to be the first man to stop Surmaji in the ring, so it has to be Harris highlight reel stuff.

“I don’t know much about my opponents, but I’m confident in what I have and believe that the best version of me can beat anyone. I think there’s going to be another knockout. It’s a big knockout.” said Harris.

“I don’t care who’s next. You don’t have to call anyone early in your career. You keep realizing your potential and the only way to come out on top is with anyone, anyone. It’s about pushing forward.”
