Congratulations to NBC Connecticut’s Matt Finkel on being named the 2022 National Sports Media Association Connecticut Sportscaster of the Year.
Matt covers some of Connecticut’s favorite NFL, MLB, and NHL teams, but also provides in-depth coverage of local college and high school sports.
He enjoys telling stories about the people of Connecticut. This year’s story of him includes Glastonbury Highboys, who dedicated a season to the late sister of his two brothers in the team, his lacrosse, and his domestic violence survivors who deliver a message to a new generation of young boxers. This includes former world champion boxer Christie and his Martin.
The National Sports Media Association is a non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities for those interested in pursuing a career in sports media. Founded in North Carolina in 1953, the organization now selects Sportscaster of the Year from all 50 states and Washington, DC each year.
