LSU had a chance to end a losing skid Saturday against Texas Tech in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. Despite falling in the early holes again, the Tigers held some late lead over the Red Raiders.

But that wasn’t enough for coach Matt McMahon’s team as their losing streak reached eight games and they went 76-68. With this win, TTU was able to stop his eight-game losing streak.

LSU started the game with the best offensive half in recent games. He shot 42.9 percent for the Tigers, but he shot 6-of-13 3-pointers. Adam Miller is hugely grateful for that efficiency as he scored 12 points in the first half while hitting 4 of 6, all his 3.

Unfortunately for LSU, the efficiency ended with the shoot. He had seven turnovers in the first half, and the Reds (with forward Kevin Oberner scoring his 13 points and scoring more than 50% of him in the frame) took advantage. They were at one point he had a 14-for-2 run, leading by as many as 11 men.

The Tigers fought back and cut their lead to 2 at some point in the opening frame, but Texas Tech extended that lead in half to 41-33.

The Red Raiders were much colder to start the second half, and the LSU defense forced five turnovers in the second half. This allowed the Tigers to get back into the game, and he even led by five points in less than nine minutes.

However, having had one of the best games in a while, LSU’s offense began to struggle at its worst. With TTU able to outlast them in Baton Rouge, the Tigers hit only one of their final 13 shots to end the game.

Back in SEC play, the road won’t be easy for LSU. His next three contests were games in Quadrant 1, starting with a trip against Missouri and a big win against No. 12 Iowa State on Saturday. Then it’s a rematch with his No. 2 Alabama, who won the first game in Tuscaloosa by 40 but lost to unranked Oklahoma.
