After the Lakers’ latest victory, a 136-134 victory over the Kings in Sacramento on Saturday, James hinted that athletic.
“You know what to do,” James told Amick. “No need to speak.”
James scored 37 points on Saturday night and has scored at least 37 points in four of his last seven games. Given the way the 38-year-old has played, this could be the last chance for a team led by James to the NBA Finals.
The Lakers have been at the forefront of trade rumors, but have so far been reluctant to give up first-round draft picks in 2027 and 2029. At the very least, they are holding off on those picks until a suitable trade offer is presented.
James is unlikely to see these picks come to fruition, so he might favor swapping them for upgrades now. However, he told Amick that it wasn’t his job to make deals.
“Listen, I play games,” said James. “I worry about who is in the locker room.

The Lakers (19-21) next game is in Denver (26-13) on Monday at 9pm ET.
