With just 10 days left in the NBA’s trade deadline, the Dallas Mavericks were already rumored to have several players last month, including Zach Lavigne, Fred VanVleet, D’Angelo Russell and Bojan Bogdanovic.
The latest trade info on the Mavs came from Action Network’s Matt Moore, who suggested Dallas could be a seller rather than a buyer at the deadline, in addition to “providing an offer” for the wing. I’m here.
Mavericks is making a wing offer for upgrades. Tim Hardaway Jr. is the name most often mentioned, and there have been reports that the Cavaliers and Mavericks are mutually interested in replacing Caris Levert and Hardaway Jr.
However, there are some indications that Dallas may be considering taking a pay cut rather than seeking a promotion. Even if it opened the door for Mavericks at the agency, it’s worth noting.
Utah could offer the Mavericks both sides: a short-term upgrade on an expiring contract, and Utah could absorb the money.
The last part about the Utah Jazz is interesting. Because if the Mavs decide to be the seller, Utah has attractive young players and picks that could entice Dallas to turn over the veteran on a lucrative contract for the team. Colin Sexton, Malik Beasley, Jared Vanderbilt and Jordan Clarkson are interesting names to watch out for there.
With 31 games remaining, the Mavs are 26-25, currently sitting in seventh place in the Western Conference. Dallas is just 2.5 games behind the No. 3 Sacramento Kings, but he is 2.5 games behind the No. 13 Los Angeles Lakers.
With a demanding schedule looming, it’s time for the Mabs to sink or swim. This next stretch toward Deadline could determine the direction of Dallas.
