Kazakhstan men’s boxing team chief coach appointed: 06 Jan 2023 09:45

Astana. KAZINFOR Myrzagali Aitzhanov has been appointed chief coach of the national men’s boxing team, replacing the post Kairat Satzhanov voluntarily resigned from, Kazinform learned from his Sports.kz.

Aitukhanov is the personal coach of 2020 Olympic bronze medalist and world champion Saken Biboshinov.

Previously, Mirzagari Aitsanov headed the national boxing team (2009-2018). The team’s most important historical success is therefore associated with his name.

For example, Serik Sapiev became the London Olympic champion and owner of the Val Barker Trophy, and Daniyar Eleusinov won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Together with Mirza Galli Aitsanov, the team won five gold medals (in 2013 he had four, in 2017 he had one) at the World Championships.

Mirzagari Aitukhanov is a world-class athlete and honored coach of Kazakhstan. He won his European junior championship in 1988 as part of the USSR national team.

Kairat Satzhanov will lead the national team from September 2021. During this period, the Kazakhstani boxer won his five medals at the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships in his 2021 season, leading the country to his second place in the overall medal standings. The team also finished second at the Asian Boxing Championships 2022 in Amman.
