KAPA’A — Kapa’a High School football earned an all-win card at the Kauai Interscholastic Federation Series on Wednesday and Thursday at the Bryan J. Batiste Sports Complex.
At Hanapepe Stadium, the Island School Soccer Program took both ends of the game against Waimea High School. The Voyager men were led by Kainalu Geer, who found the net twice.
Sawyer Rogoff won 3-2 against the Menehune team who scored two goals from Nicolas Alaya. Sienna Temme and Chloe Ayonon found the net for Voyager women who shut Menehune down with her 2-0.
Kapaa’s Siena Yamashita, who scored in a 1-1 draw at the break on Wednesday, scored in the second half to give the Lady Warriors a 2-1 victory over the hard-fought Kauai High Girls. After Yamashita broke the ice in the 20th minute, Kauai High School’s Kaila Pereira found the net in the 28th minute, forcing a 1-1 halftime stalemate.
On the men’s field, the Warriors scored against Zaiden Macdonald and Kauria Siroma to take a 2-0 lead over the Kauai High School boys.
Tall mid-forward Oliva Jenkins scored seven goals to take the Kapaa Girls junior varsity team to a 12-0 final, defeating the JV Kauai High Girls, who fielded just nine players.
The JV Kapaa Boys found the net four times in the first half en route to a 7-1 win over the JV Waimea Boys at Thursday’s nightcap. Andrew Durocher led the win in the first half he scored two goals and in the second half he completed a trick (or three goals). Waimea’s Jayden Sablan blew a “good ball” through the contest and scored his only goal for JV Menehune to prevent a shutout.
Following Saturday’s game, the next KIF soccer match will take place on Tuesday, when the Island School girls will visit Kauai High School for one game at Vidinha Stadium at 4pm.
On Wednesday, the Island School boys will face the Red Raiders in a 4:00 p.m. contest at Vidinha Stadium. Kapaa will face Menehune at Hanapepe Stadium, with the women’s varsity kick-off at 5pm followed by the men’s varsity kick-off at 7pm.
The series concludes on Thursday at 6pm with the JV Warrior Boys taking on the JV Menehune Boys.
