Jordan Alvarez is one of the leading players for the Houston Astros in their upcoming World Series title defense.
Alvarez is coming to the end of an outstanding 2022 campaign with several career-best stats, including OPS+ (187). He also finished his third place in voting for the 2022 American League MVP award. He had his fair share of ups and downs in the postseason, but the team’s World Series-winning run saw him rack up 14 RBIs.
Astros second baseman Jose Altuve I believe Alvarez is the clear best hitter in all of baseball today.
“To me right now, he’s the best hitter in baseball,” Altuve said at the Astros’ Fanfest event on Saturday.
“He’s better than people think.”
As it stands, Alvarez plans to alternate again between left field and designated hitter positions for the Astros in the 2023 season. He may also be penciled in to be their daily No. 4 hitter, a former All-Star who finished his No. 4 position in Houston’s batting order last year when he was 63. Recorded starting lineup.
