John Mayer talks NBA legends and basketball when the Toronto Raptors take on the Phoenix Suns on Monday night.

Mayer and Walton have been friends for years since their passion for music—the Grateful Dead—bonded.
A longtime “Deadhead”, Walton says he’s been in over 1000 Dead or Dead-related shows, including Mayer’s touring group, Dead & Company.
Mayer first joined Dead & Company in 2015, comprising Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Bob Weir, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti.
“It’s really interesting to be a fan of a particular band at the moment that you’re most passionate about, and to provide that passion to the band itself,” he told PEOPLE at the time. I didn’t say, ‘I really want to join the band. ”
