Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey isn’t happy Joel Embiid wasn’t voted to start the 2023 NBA All-Star Game.
While appearing on 97.5 The Fanatic, Morley said that Embiid was “totally hooked” on the All-Star voting.

@975 The Fanatic said Daryl Morey, Sixers President of Basketball Operations. Also. ”
Morey specifically pointed out that the “Shameless Boston Media” was “greatly exaggerated” in the All-Star starter selection process.
Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics and Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets edged out Embiid in the Eastern Conference frontcourt voting.
The East’s starting backcourt is Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Kyrie Irving of the Nets.
Morley was critical of Boston’s media, but it should be noted that fan votes accounted for 50% of the vote. NBA players and media voted by his panel each counted him 25%.

Sixers head coach Doc Rivers also expressed frustration that Embiid was not selected as a starter, saying the voting system was “flawed.” talk to reporters on friday:
“For what it is, he’s clearly a starting pitcher. I don’t really pay that much attention to it, to be honest. It’s a voting issue. I think the voting is flawed in the way they do it. I think Ten years, so I don’t talk about it anymore.I think it should be the five best guys. They get it.It should be positionless. please.”
Embiid’s omission from the All-Star starter list came as a surprise to many as he is in the midst of an incredible season. Through 35 games, he averaged 33.4 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.7 blocks while shooting 53.2 percent from the floor and 34.5 percent from deep.
Not being selected was clearly a disappointment for Embiid and Co., but he’s definitely in contention for the MVP award this season, which means more than an All-Star starter selection.
