Cincinnati — Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is looking to hold a major NFL record as soon as he throws his 12th pass Monday night.
Accurate sign callers have the highest completion rate in NFL history (68.48%) but have yet to reach the threshold of 1,500 career passes required to officially hold the record.
That changed on Monday and he was actually able to throw all 12 passes into the dirt and hold the record. Drew Brees (67.69%) is officially the all-time record, but Burrow is still at 67.93% in his 12th opening and his mistakes.
In addition to winning games, this feat speaks to Burrow’s biggest goal each season: leading the league in completion percentage.
He paced all passers in last season’s stats and is second to Jenno Smith this season. Burrow is the only NFL player with a 69% or better QB over the past two seasons.
Jimmy Garoppolo, DeShawn Watson, Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, Kyler Murray, Kirk Cousins, Teddy Bridgewater, Patrick Mahomes, Chad Pennington and Brees are the only QBs to complete at least 66% of their passes over 1,500 attempts. .
Cincinnati and Buffalo will play Monday Night Football at 8:15 PM ET. The game airs on ESPN and is available on fuboTV. Start your free trial here.
