Around this time each year, each positional group in the NFL Draft class begins to separate from the rest, for better or worse.

One of the strongest groups in the 2023 class looks to be at cornerback, and multiple players could easily claim to be the frontrunners in the group.

One name that seems to be popular right now is Devon Witherspoon from Illinois. Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire recently analyzed why this particular shutdown his artist could be a next-level superstar cover man.

Here’s just a snippet of Farrar’s breakdown:

Witherspoon’s movement skills — his ability to change direction quickly in short spaces and stay sticky with smaller, more angled receivers — are highly unusual for a player of his height. Most of the time, long, lanky cornerbacks can get bogged down by receivers and roots, forcing them to dance step-by-step. It takes an extra millisecond for everything to go in the same direction.

Witherspoon will be one of the most anticipated entrants to next week’s Senior Bowl, giving him a chance to cement himself as a top 10 nominee.
