The Hollywood Walk of Fame has the original owner of a new category, sports entertainment.
Pro Football Hall of Famer and Super Bowl Champion Michael Strahan bears his name.
“We are very excited to have Michael Strahan as the first sports entertainment star,” said Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez. You’ll be thrilled to see an athlete earn a star.Michael’s extensive background in sports and sportscasting makes him the perfect choice to add to the famous sidewalk.”
Strahan will be honored at a gala on January 23rd.

The 51-year-old spent all 15 seasons of his NFL career with the New York Giants and was selected by Texas Southern in the second round (40th overall) of the 1993 NFL Draft.
Strahan led the NFL in sacks twice and still holds the one-season record of 22.5 in 2001. Despite this, he was named Defensive Player of the Year for the year.

He was named to seven Pro Bowls and was named a First Team All-Pro four times (he was named to the Second Team twice). In the final game of his career, he and the Giants defeated the Patriots 18-0 in New England in Super Bowl XLII, one of the biggest upsets in sports history. He lost one sack and three tackles in the 17–14 win.
He has the sixth-most sacks in NFL history since 1982 when sacks became official statistics.
Strahan was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014.

After his playing career, he hosted “Live! with Regis and Kelly” in Regis Philbin’s absence.
