BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – The City of Birmingham Schools confirmed Lynn Slater, Huffman High School’s girls’ basketball coach, collapsed on Saturday and was taken to a local hospital.
It happened near the end of the Huffman/Ramsay game. She was discharged from the hospital, according to BCS.
Slater updated his social media on Sunday, stating:
Glory to God first!! I’m so glad I’m alive..I want to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words to me..Me and my family are so grateful..The grind of the season caught up with me last night.. But I’ve been well taken care of..heart and blood pressure tests still going on..healed. don’t worry about me I will stay strong for my son, family, team and amazing staff. Thank you coach Jovanka Ward and her amazing Ramsay women’s basketball team and the Ramsay fans for the incredible love they have shown me. is not. Dr. Lyons, Dr. Hammons, Mrs. Bonner, thank you for being there for me. I hope to get out of the hospital soon and return to the sidelines with my team.. I love you all!! ! !
