Anthony Taylor’s pre-fight serenade was broadcast live on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) from inside the OVO Arena Wembley in London, UK today (Saturday 14th January 2023) at Misfits Boxing Series 004. It didn’t work to his advantage. .
The combat veteran met undefeated professional boxer Idris Vargo to open the main card for Misfits Boxing Series 004 on DAZN PPV. The two exchanged a few words in Friday’s rather awkward weigh-in showdown, but things quickly became real on Saturday when the first bell rang.
Taylor flew out of the corner like a wrecking ball, throwing punches like the main card opener was a one-round affair. Virgo kept his cool and fought behind the jab, allowing him to land some powerful hooks throughout the round. Taylor started to tire in the second round, and Virgo began to mess up his shots and do some serious damage.
Not known for his boxing technique, Taylor kept trying to time his power left hook to turn the momentum of the fight. was not possible. Taylor scored a sizeable right hand in the third, but Virgo was busy shaking it off and landing the final knockdown.
Virgo built up the pressure in the fourth as he leveled Taylor and knocked out his mouthpiece. Taylor stepped forward, exhausted. Ultimately, it was Virgo who did more than enough to score a dominant decisive victory.
