It’s a big Saturday with shootouts in Chicago and shootouts in Highlands. We will update throughout the day.

Peoria Christian 54, Seneca 48: I was preparing for a possible visit to check out the undefeated Seneca, but this happens. Simeon is currently the only undefeated player in the region (if he beats Imohotep tonight). Sophomore Paxton Geertz scored 24 for the Seneca.

DePaul Prep 51, Lake Forest 45: The hosts will win the season opener by 22 points over PJ Chambers. Asa Thomas led the scouts with his 24 men.

Thornton 61, U-High 39: Senior Vincent Rainey scored 20 points for the Wildcats to improve to 7-5.

Glenbrook North 65, St Ignatius 57: The Spartans jumped to a double-digit lead early on and never gave up that advantage, taking a big bounce-back victory from last night’s loss at Glenbrook South. Senior Ryan Cohen scored his 1,000th in the first half. Junior Josh Fridman led Glenbrook North with 22 points. Richard Barron scored his 25th at St. Ignatius.

Belleville East 65, Hillcrest 59: Point guard Bryce Tillery scored 22 points for the Hawks, but it wasn’t enough. Big man Darrion Baker scored 17 points. With this win, Belleville improved his East to his 15-2 record, and the Lancers look set to be a key factor in the Class 4A state playoffs.

Brooks 72, Francis Parker 67: Great solid win for the Eagles. Remember how Parker made a ruckus with the Big Dipper? Anthony Vaval he led Brooks with 18 points. Caleb David scored 21 for the Colonel.

Beecher 64, Bismarck-Henning 48: The Bobcats improve to 17-1. Junior Addin McGinley led the league with 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Zach Johnson has 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Crystal Lake South 63, Woodstock North 42: The Gators’ quality season continues with a win on the road and sophomore AJ Demilov continues his breakout campaign. He tallied 20 points, 5 stolen bases and 3 assists in this game. Cooper Le Paige said he had 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
