LINCOLN, Nebraska (AP) — Sam Griesel scored 15 points — including two near-ending free throws — and had seven rebounds Wednesday night to help Nebraska beat Ohio State 63-60. extended the Buckeyes’ losing streak to five games.
Takanari Tominaga added 11 points for Nebraska (10-9, 3-5 Big Ten). Derrick Walker, who is Nebraska’s top scorer (he has 14.1 points per game) and rebounder (7.7), fouled him out when called for a charge with 2:09 remaining, giving him 8 points, 10 rebounds and 10 rebounds. Finished with 4 assists.
The Cornhuskers improved to 6-20 against Ohio State (10-8, 2-5).
Brice Sensabaugh scored back-to-back buckets to give Ohio State a two-point lead with 8:55 to play, but the Buckeyes finished the next 6 1/2 minutes without a field goal. Denim Dawson responded with a layup, Jamal Lawrence shot his 3-pointer, and a minute later he was 52-49, with the Cornhuskers leading the rest.
Sean McNeil cleanly missed a potential tying 3-point shot from the left wing as time expired.
Sensabo led the Buckeyes with 18 points and 10 rebounds. McNeil scored his 13 points and Zedkey scored his 11 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg was charged with a technical foul at 12:33. He appeared upset after a no-call for what he thought was a Buckeyes foul, and exploded moments later when Wilhelm Breidenbach was called for the moving screens. McNeill, who entered the game 18-18 from his line of Ohio State free throws this season, missed two of his technical free throws.
Nebraska has played the toughest schedule in the nation, according to the NCAA’s NET rankings, with 10 of its 19 games this season against Quad 1 opponents.
