Monday night will see a battle of NBA Blue Bloods as the revived Chicago Bulls (19-21) head to Boston to take on the conference-leading Celtics (28-12).

Both teams have been performing well recently after a period of erratic play heading into the holidays.

For the Celtics, Marcus Smart’s play is questionable. Alex Caruso is the leading name in the Bulls’ injury reports and is listed as questionable.

Over the past month, the Bulls have quietly played very strong basketball.

After December 5th, they went 10-7, four of which came in one possession or overtime. They earned him the 11th best net rating in that time period, doing everything against a pretty solid schedule. They’re facing the toughest schedule in the NBA this season by a wide margin.

Of course, the Celtics didn’t play out that way this season, including a two-game losing streak where he’s 0-3 against the spread against Chicago.

I think the spread is set to a decent number, but it leans a little towards the Celtics.

What I think is worth a little more is the total. The Celtics could really take over this if they put up as many 3s as the Bulls theoretically allow, and the Bulls offense is just cooking right now.

Chicago also has the highest pick-and-roll percentage of any team in the league this season, which is actually one of the rare weaknesses of the otherwise strong Celtics defense.

The line opened at 236.5, up 0.5 points from most of the books, but it’s still there at BetMGM.
