Cincinnati — Patrick Mahomes entered Week 17 as the -500 favorite to win the NFL MVP award, but Fox Sports voice Nick Wright doesn’t consider the Chiefs’ quarterback a rock .
Monday’s Cincinnati vs. Buffalo game has a lot to do with it.
“I don’t think he’s rock,” Wright said heading into the weekend. “The Bills Bengals’ winning quarterback will have a ton of momentum heading into the final week of the year from hordes of media not wanting Patrick Mahomes to rightfully get what’s his. .”
Wright is a famous Chiefs fan, but he understands how the narrative surrounding the MVP debate works. Heading into Week 17, the Bengals’ franchise player has already beaten Mahomes with MVP at +700.
“You know what the story will be on Tuesday morning? ‘Wait a minute. Didn’t this quarterback beat Patrick Mahomes?'” Wright said. “Wait, you’re saying Joe Burrow beat Patrick Mahomes and beat Josh Allen. And he’s the defending AFC champion. Why isn’t he MVP?” I can. ”
Mahomes (329 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT) and the Chiefs narrowly escaped Denver 27-24 on Sunday in another strong outing for the MVP leaders.
