RIDGELAND, Mississippi (AP) — A former NFL football player from the University of Mississippi has been arrested in Mississippi on kidnapping charges.

Jerrel Pow, 35, remained imprisoned outside Jackson in Ridgeland without bail on Monday. It is unknown if he has a lawyer to speak for him.

Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers told WLBT-TV that Pow and another person were arrested at a bank in the city on Thursday.

According to Myers, the abduction began in Laurel, 75 miles (120 km) southeast of Jackson, and ended after the victim was able to contact Ridgeland Police. He said the victim was safe.

Powe will make his first appearance before a judge on Tuesday.

Pau played defensive tackle for Ole Miss from 2008-2010. In his 37 games he finished with 69 tackles, 7 sacks and an interception. Pau was named second team All-Southeastern in 2009 and he was named to the conference in 2010.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Pow in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He appeared in his 12 games over his three seasons with the Chiefs, collecting eight tackles and one sack. Pow joined Houston in 2014. He appeared in 16 games with the Texans and recorded 10 tackles.
